2026 LOUISA COUNTY FAIR

JUDGED EXHIBITS RULES AND REGULATIONS

 

  • All exhibitors must be residents of, employed by, or active participants in the County of Louisa.

  • Articles exhibited must be the work of the exhibitor and/or grown by the exhibitor and be amateur only. All items must have been made or grown within the past 12 calendar months and not previously entered in the Louisa County Fair.

  • Exhibitors are responsible for placing entries in the proper class. Judges will not consider entries placed in the wrong class.

  • An exhibitor may enter only one article in a class. (Exception: Adult Crops & Vegetables).

  • An exhibitor may place an entry “FOR DISPLAY ONLY” if desired (this should be indicated on the entry tag); this entry will be exhibited but not judged.

  • No cross-entering is permitted: Youth (ages 5-13) may not enter adult competitions and adults may not enter the youth competitions.

  • Classes with only one entry will be awarded ribbons at the discretion of the judge.

  • Ribbons are awarded for first, second, and third places. Eight Best of Show ribbons will be awarded for adult divisions and four for youth divisions (one for Div. A-N and R, one for Div. O, one for Div. P, one for Div. Q).  

  • All judges’ decisions are final.

  • Exhibits may be removed after 7 PM on Saturday, August 1st.  Ticket stubs may be used to enter the fairgrounds for the purpose of collecting exhibits. The Judged Exhibits building will close at 9 PM on Saturday, August 1st. Remaining entries may be picked up from 10 AM – 2 PM on Sunday, August 2nd.

  • All items not claimed by Sunday afternoon will be considered abandoned and taken to the Extension Office at 200 E Main Street, Louisa, VA.

  • The exhibitor assumes all risks of damage or loss either to person or property for any cause.  It is further expressly understood and agreed by the exhibitor that the Louisa County Fair Association and the Mineral Volunteer Fire Department that the said “fair” incurs no liability or obligation to the exhibitor other than to permit the exhibitor to use the grounds for exhibit.

 

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION FOR 2026 JUDGED EXHIBITS

  • All entry forms must accompany entries when brought to the fairgrounds; we are not able to accept any entry forms through the mail or online.

  • There is just one youth category:  ages 5-13. All exhibitors aged 14 and up enter the adult categories.

  • Please review the class lists thoroughly before selecting the best one for your entry.

  • Departments or divisions are indicated by a letter (A, B, etc.), and classes are indicated by a number (1, 2, etc.). 

  • Where requested, please indicate the variety of your entry.

  • Photographs 5x7 or 8x10 will be judged together. Black and white photos will be judged separately from color photos; however, only one Best in Show will be selected from all photographs, whether black and white or color.

  • In some categories, various items will be judged together even if they are made of different materials or ingredients.

 

 

Please bring your entry, along with the completed entry form,

to the fairgrounds on

WEDNESDAY, JULY 30TH, between 2PM-7 PM or

 THURSDAY, JULY 31ST, between 8AM-11AM

Youth and Adult Combined Categories:

Decorated Birthday Cake: Theme: Happy 250th birthday America. Cash prizes 1st: $25 2nd: $15 3rd: $10. All age groups are judged together. The whole cake must be presented on foil-covered cardboard or a sturdy plate. Scratch cakes only (no box mixes) Have fun!

Americana-Themed Jewelry Contest: Cash prizes 1st: $20 2nd: $10 3rd: $5. All age groups are judged together. Items must follow the theme red, white, and blue. Be creative. Judging as follows: Theme (50%), Creativity (25%), Workmanship (25%).

Creative Duct Tape Contest: Americana-themed. Cash prizes 1st: $20 2nd: $10 3rd: $5. All age groups are judged together. Use duct tape to create a tote or pocketbook, hat, vest, hairbow, or jewelry. Use your imagination!

American Flag Theme: You choose the material (wood, plastic, fabric, etc.). Cash prizes 1st: $20 2nd: $10 3rd: $5. All age groups are judged together. Theme (50%), Creativity (25%), and Workmanship (25%).

All entries should be brough to the fairgrounds on July 30th, 2pm-7pm or July 31st, 8am-11am.
